ROUGH MIXES
Welcome to this secret page- not accessible from the website- which is for the benefit of venues, promoters and investors while the Odysseus Project recordings are being mixed. Modern recordings are generally made using many microphones, one set for the first violins, one for the second, ditto the violas, cellos etc. Many mics were used to make this recording and the recording from each mic (or sets of mics) comprises a "track". The mixing engineer refines the sounds from the many individual tracks, making each instrument sound as clear and rich as possible, while balancing and unifying the sound of the ensemble as a whole. It is a high art, and we are very fortunate to have a master mixing engineer, Mr. Ludovic Travel of the Studio De La Grande Armée in Paris, undertaking this crucial task. Due to Ludovic's busy schedule and the complexity of this recording project, the mixing has taken longer than expected, so we are taking the unusual step of demonstrating these rough mixes to parties with a special interest in the project.
Please understand that the final product will be sonically magnificent; worthy of the compositions and musicians who performed them. For the moment, we hope you can appreciate the beauty of the pieces even in their unpolished from. Under these circumstances, we request that theses versions not be copied, downloaded or shared, and that this URL be kept entre nous.... Be assured that the finished mixes will be available soon, and the CD will be released shortly thereafter.

The first section composed was "Circe", which was recorded in Lyon in 2015, with the participation of La Camerata Orchestra, directed by Gaël Reassert. In 2016, with Circe as their submission, Karim and Will applied for, and won, a grant from the French American Jazz Exchange. The grant is financing the development of the rest of the cycle, it's recording and the subsidy of future performances.
